About Me

Welcome! My name is Sarah Hunzeker and I am an undergraduate in the Honors Program at Saint Michael's College pursuing a double-major in English and education as well as a minor in studio art. I have quite the schedule, but I could not love it more! I am originally from North Attleboro, Massachusetts, which is just a short drive away from the Rhode Island beaches where I love to swim, spend time with my family, and try new flavors of ice cream. For those of you who are interested, my current favorite flavor is coffee-oreo, however I will never say no to trying something new.
I also love spending time with my dog, Lucy, who is a golden-doodle (and definitely one of my best friends)! My family calls her an old lady now that her snout has turned almost entirely white.

Going to school and participating in an environment of learning is something I have loved for as long as I can remember. When I was younger, I thrived in the classroom because I was surrounded by my friends, my teachers, and strong mentors who guided me in my journey to find myself. Because of my experiences with education throughout my life, I believe that learning is one of the best ways to form relationships with kids of all ages, and to me there is no better way to connect with people of all ages than through my love of art and literature!
I have had classroom experience at the elementary, middle and high school levels through various volunteering opportunities in my hometown as well as through my education classes at Saint Michael's. This semester, I will be shadowing a high school teacher and working with ELL students, and I am so excited to see where this opportunity takes me! Once I graduate from SMC, I hope to obtain my Master's Degree in education and teach either English or art. I hope you enjoy this peak into my experience of becoming a teacher!
